FEES & COSTS
The fee for University of Buckingham MD courses is £20,000 per annum for two or three
years. Full payment for both years at entry will attract a fee reduction of
£1000 in total. For the University
of Buckingham MD programmes,
the fees are payable directly to the University of Buckingham.
The
candidates MUST NOT pay any agent or representative of the university
or any person claiming to be such an agent or representative of the
university, any monies whatsoever, in any currency, as these costs are
borne by the university directly.
All fees are to be paid in Pound
Sterling. For different ways of fee payment, please refer directly to the
university at http://buckingham.ac.uk/study/fees/methods.html.
All payments will be acknowledged
by the University. No responsibility will be taken by WLPMS for any
payments made to any other bank account or to individuals.
For the 2 year Clinical MD programme, the tuition fee can be paid using
any of the following 3 modes:
- Full
payment of £40,000 on
enrolment, i.e., on acceptance of an unconditional offer of placement
by the university, attracting a discount of £1000; total amount
payable- £39,000
- Payment of £20,000 towards
tuition fees for the first year on enrolment and another £20,000 before the
start of the second year; total amount payable- £40,000
- First
payment of £10,500 on enrolment with a second payment of another
£10,500 just before commencing the MD programme. The second
year fee can then either be paid in one lot of £20,000 before the
start of the second year OR as first payment of £10,500 before the
start of second year and another £10,500 before the final 6 months
of the programme; total amount payable- £42,000.
For the 3 year Clinical MD programme as well as for 1 year Research plus 2 years Clinical MD programmes, the tuition fee can be paid using
any of the following 3 modes:
- Full
payment of £60,000 on
enrolment, i.e., on acceptance of an unconditional offer of placement
by the university, attracting a discount of £1000; total amount
payable- £59,000
- Payment
of £20,000 towards tuition fees for the first year on enrolment,
another £20,000 before the start of the second year and a final

- First
payment of £10,500 on enrolment with a second payment of another
£10,500 just before commencement of MD programme. A similar
payment schedule can then be maintained for the second and third years
with £10,500 before the start of second and third years and another
£10,500 before the final 6 months of each of the second and third
years; total amount payable- £63,000.
Additional administrative charges applicable to candidates sponsored for full registration by the GMC:
- These will be announced soon. Please keep on reviewing this website for updates.
- All such administrative charges apply only to
the years of Clinical MD. For candidates doing the first year of
MSC, no additional charge is applicable and such candidates will be
eligible for sponsorship for full registration after the completion of
the first research year.
Generally,
the last
date for payment of fee
for the Clinical MD programmes commencing at any entry point is 30 days
before the start of the programme. Any monies received by the
university after this
closing date will count
towards the next programme. However,
it is highly advisable to pay the fees as soon as possible after
receiving the offer. This is not only to confirm the place on the
MD programme but also to leave adequate time for visa process which can
sometimes be several months.
Very
few scholarships or bursaries are
available to the candidates for the MD programmes at the present time
and the availability of these will be announced on this website as and
when they become available.
Once the completed application
form and supporting documents have been received by the university, an offer of
placement on the course is made by the university in writing (by e-mail
and conventional post) to the successful candidates. The successful
candidates are asked to confirm their acceptance of the offer and pay fees using one of the methods listed above. The
time period from issuing an offer to the last date for fee payment
is specified in the offer letter. Payment of the fee during
this specified time period will confirm and guarantee a place. A
place may still be offered if the fee is paid after the specified time
period lapses but that offer of place is then at the discretion of the
university.
After the fees have been
received, the university supplies successful candidates a visa
supporting letter that should be submitted to the British High Commission in
the respective countries for the candidates to obtain a 2 or 3 year student visa for
the UK.
Please note that any visa and medical examination (if required) charges are separate and are the responsibility of
the candidate. Please click on the "Visa" section in the left
hand column for details about visa, its duration and application details.
The university will provide all legitimate help and
assistance to the candidates in obtaining a 2 or 3 year student UK visa and
providing that the candidate's paperwork is in order, there is no reason for
visa refusal. However, the final decision to award or refuse the visa
rests with British High Commissions overseas.
Please note that should the candidate decide not to
pursue with the programme at a later stage for any reason, except for
genuine visa refusal, the university will refund all but £4500 of
the fee. This is because the
university and hospitals have to spend considerable monies upfront
for the
organisation and running of the MD programmes and need to budget their
costs
early on.
The entire fee will be refunded to the candidate in the event of
a genuine visa refusal but this needs to be backed up with a letter
from the Visa Officer at British High Commission overseas or UK Home
Office confirming visa refusal and giving the reasons thereof.
Candidates may wish to work part
time on a paid basis according to the current UK student visa regulations.
Spouses are allowed to work without restriction. Further details can be
obtained from the UK Home office website. Please also refer to the
International Graduate Scheme as described under the 'UK Medical Training' section.
Campus accommodation as single room
is available and guaranteed to all successful candidates at a cost
of £100 per week
per individual inclusive of water, heating and electricity bills. The
single accommodation is available in the Doctor's Residences at Ealing
Hospital. Alternative single accommodation belonging to the WLPMS
and in close proximity to the hospital may also become available in
near future.
Family
accommodation, outside the hospital, may also available at an approximate rental, for a 2 bedroom
apartment close to Ealing
Hospital, of £400 per
week inclusive of utilities bills and council tax.
WLPMS will assist the candidates obtain family accommodation in the private sector outwith the hospital but cannot guarantee it.
It is not essential that
candidates take accommodation through the WLPMS. WLPMS is providing fully
furnished campus accommodation to help candidates stay together close to
the hospital where they will be attached. However, the candidates are
free to organise their own accommodation as long as it is within a 10 mile
radius from the hospital, for obvious reasons.
To facilitate the process, the
accommodation charges from overseas are initially payable to the university, at
least one
month before the candidate's arrival in the UK. Rent for 4
calander weeks needs to be paid into the university account along with a
refundable deposit of £90 to guarantee accommodation through the
WLPMS. Please use the same university account for rent and deposit payment as for payment of fees.
For accommodation in Ealing Hospital Doctor Residences,
all
the accommodation charges will go to Ealing
Hospital and no monies
will be retained by WLPMS or university. Once in the UK, the hospital will invoice the
candidates directly for accommodation charges for subsequent weeks/months.
Membership
of the Royal Society of
Medicine with associated benefits and costs of attending Specialist
Society International Conferences are included in the course fees.
